Just got 6 x 20w with 3x 60w transformers.

I have an exisisting lighting ring with a spare switch which is currently utilized by a 1 celiing mains halogen over the sink
I would like to put the cabinet lights on the same switch but the instructions say I should go through a 3a fused spur.

Could I just wire the 3 transformers into the lighting cable that is spare and use the mains fuse and not use a 3a fused spur ?

Ta in advance

Thanks for the insight
Useful.

I was just wondering if I could have lights switched from a light swtich rather than a 3a fused spur into the mains......

Might have been a little more convienient.

The 3amp fused spur has probably been specified as the mains cable on the transformers is only rated up to 3amps. The best way to achieve what you want is to take a mains feed from the one halogen lamp, and use an unswitched FCU fitted with a 3amp fuse discretely hidden but still accessible should you ever need to change the fuse. Wired as follows:

-----existing light-----fused spur-----transformers-----lv lights

this way you have the lights switched as you wanted and you still satisfy the manufacturers instructions.

All the best

Seems like a sensible and satisfactory solution.

Will check it out.

Thanks for your time.
