after heavy down pours of rain wather seems to seep into the gravel under the floor of my house. there is about a two foot drop between floor boards and the gravel underneath there is no puddles but the gravel can get very wet and it leaves a smell. it only happens in one area of the living room which is about 4 to 5 meters from the nearest outside wall. how is the wather getting into one area and how serious can this be also what needs to be done to fix the problem and what sort of a tradesman do i contact to get the problem fixed. mant thanks in advance for any replys

tell us about the condition and route of the gutters, downpipe, gully and drain or soakaway.

water appearing after rain

unless you are very unlucky, it is the rainwater appearing.

rainwater is supposed to be collected at the gutters, run down the downpipe, go into a gully and then be drained towards a sewer or soakaway.

At some point which you have not yet been able to identify, there is a defect, probably a broken pipe, especially if you have clay or perhaps old cast iron.

You did not answer about the route.
