Hi,

Looking at installing under floor water heating when my extension is built but would like to hear from other people that have some experience on this.

Firstly has anyone used a good system on Joist flooring and also a good system on concrete system but more importantly with wood flooring covering. I have heard a few issues with real timbler flooring over piped under floor heating like the floor bowing when hot?

Thanks

Ian

Under floor heating is good as it spreads the heat all over the room.
UFH is bad because if its laid in a concrete slab, it will take ages to heat up and even longer to cool down. It too can bend/buckle if laid too thin, its best reinforced with steel mesh.
So if the sun shines in the room consider that in the spring and autumn it may get too hot very quickly and you may have to waste the heat you are going to pay for by opening the windows to make the room usable.
A light weight oriental strand board finish will heat up and cool down more quickly.
