underfloor heating stone flags ??

I have a situation where i would like to install wet under floor heating in a smallish entrance hall. size of the room is 3 mtrs x 2.2 mtrs wide.The floor is concrete.

I would like to lay some old york stone paving slabs i have some of which are 2 inch thick on top of the under floor heating.

My Questions are:

I have a 15mm flow and return to the room and have been told that i can lie underfloor heating pipe down and connect them to standard rad valves, without manifold etc is this possible?

Would under floor heating work with 2 inch stone flags and a concrete floor.

Would i be better off just installing a rad.

I think a rad would be better, underfloor heating is very practical for retro-fitting.

You could probably get away with it as people are not goign to be bare foot in there and heating pipes are regularly laid into screed without injuring anyone. The heat is unlikely to damage the flags either.

What you need to do though is put at least 150mm of celotex below the heating pipes. I'd say if you've got nothing to lose, go for it. You will find there are no cold drafts coming from the front door. You might still want to put a trv on the return pipe and fit it so the pipework feeding the floor is accessible.
