Underfloor insulation

Hi
I'm planning to insulate under my ground-floor wooden floor-boards from underneath. I have a crawl space of 2-3 ft. I have found guidance online stating that you can place insulating wool between the joists and hold in place with netting.
Can I staple the wool to the floorboards from underneath instead of using netting?
