I've recently had a problem with the gutter drainage into the ground drain. The driveway around the drain had begun to sink, and upon digging around it I discovered that the cement around the p trap to the underground pipe had broken away, and to add to that, the underground pipe was blocked (and yes, it's a clay pipe).

I removed the p trap and unblocked the pipe, but upon putting the p trap back in place, the collar on the underground pip broke off.

In a nutshell, I just want to know the best way to reconnect the p trap to the underground pipe without having to replace the underground pipe. The underground pipe's internal diameter is 82mm, so I'm wondering whether there's anything around that I could use to step down from the existing p trap (external 110mm diameter).

I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find anything suitable.

look on the mcalpine website, they have connectors for different sized pipes

You can get a mortar-on collar and other parts.

Dig out all the cracked and broken parts and see where the sound parts begin. It may be worse than you have found.

If it is still not clear, post photos and sketches.

It is normal to find clay drainage is broken. Your soil pipes and kitchen gully are probably as bad as your rainwater.

Signs of damage include wet patches on walls, cracked, sunkdn and broken paving, cement repairs, and lush vegetation.

This work involves digging, and is more pleasant in summer.
