Upvc waste pipe tough enough to be buried?

im installing a linear drain at one end of my patio and was wondering if normal 40mm upvc waste pipe is strong enough to be buried? I don't want to use the underground pipe as the area is too fiddly and it's got to go through a retaining wall, any advice greatly appreciated...
