Use of hot water causing boiler to shut down

I have just bought a house where a Protherm combi boiler is installed. This worked fine for the first few months but now use of the hot water tends to shut the boiler down completely and the water runs cold. This can usually be avoided if the taps/shower are only opened slightly - when the hotwater is fine and hot. (Although recently even this technique can trigger the boiler to shut down). :(

An error message of "-2" flashes up when this occurs.

Domestic heat exchanger blockage?

I've tried discussing it with local plumbers but they are reluctant to get involved because they have never come across Protherm boilers before.

It would also appear the company itself is in liquidation!

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Katy
