useing mineral felt as an underlay

i have a small lean to roof to slate, four tiles high and 25 long (6mtrs).
it is over a bay on a terraced house. all the neighbours have slate but this one is felted.
can i baton and slate over the top or do i need to remove the felt and put under tile felt on first?

Yes you can but you will need to counter batton it or as its a small roof just put some small pieces of wood under each lath where your going to nail it.The reason for doing this is so water does not get trapped behind you laths.

thanks for the reply about counter batons , will 10mm slices of batton do the trick if i nail them to the roof through the batons?
