Using red & black twin & earth cable

I've got a couple of rolls of 1.5 & 2.5 twin & earth left over from a renovation a couple of years ago. Red & black cable. Can this be used now cable is brown & blue?

Not allowed under BS7671.
All fixed wiring must be new colours (Blue and Brown) mandatory since 31 March 2006.
 
Although no one would ever know, the regs say you can no longer use it.

Have a look on ebay because for some strange reason (possibly PP :LOL: ) you can normally sell it for quite a bit more than you would pay for a new roll.
 
Not to BS 7671 = IEE Wiring Regulations 16th Edition.
However, in itself , BS 7671 has not got the force of law behind it as such, therefore it is legal to use it.
It would be a judgement call whether to use it or not
Would the use of it present a danger that does not already exist?

Just out of interest if you sheathed both conductors with blue and brown sheathing prior to terminating, would this conform to current regs?

Probably ****** buying it for work carried out 'before' part P :D
 
Although frowned upon, I personally see no problem using red and black in an existing installation that is totally wired in the stuff already.
