Im an electrician, recently wired an s plan central heating system for a ecotec 656 system boiler. The boiler fires up perfectly when ch is selected via the room stat but doesn t fire when hot water is selected even though the two port valve is working fine and the switch wire back to the boiler vuia the hot water cylinder becomes live. Is there a different terminal on the boiler controls for hot water? The switchline is on terminal 4 at the moment which is firing up on ch.anyone help?

The switch wire from ch valve should be wired to same as hw valve (both orange). If there is no voltage on orange when valve is open (but grey is which of course is perm live) then the valve is at fault.
Ideally though you would feed the greys from term 3 on boiler (power goes out on 3 back on 4).

yeah the oranges of the valves are together and they both bcome live when hw is selected and when ch is selected, they then make the sw live to the boiler live but for some reason it just doesn t fire up when hw is selected even though there is 230v on terminal 4 at the boiler. as far as i can see the valves are working as they should be.
