Hiya
Following on from an earlier thread. I have a glow-worm Ultimate2 35c combi gas boiler, and have recently (black friday woo!) got a Tado 'smart' thermostat. I have currently installed this in a like-for-like situation using the wiring the old mechanical thermostat was on (some 1.5mm t&e) using the 24V dry contacts on the boiler.
I would like to replace the T&E as a) it's not quite long enough to route tidily, b) control voltages shouldn't be on mains cable. I was thinking of using Cat5e cable, as I've got nearly a whole reel of it. I can't see any specific reason why this wouldn't work, can anyone confirm?
The boiler has a connection for Vaillant eBus. I am hoping that the Tado will be able to use the eBus system, rather than the more primitive dry contacts to modulate the boiler to the heating requirements. Is this possible? Has anyone done this?
