thanks very much guys...it was the divertor valve. ended up paying valliant 25 a month for the next year (peace of mind) so i suppose its not too bad.

great to have heat again!

that does include the repair, a service, and a years cover of the boiler and controls. Not bad value actually imo.

Just think most people who take out service contracts on direct debt never cancel them so in the next ten years you will pay around £2500 to £3000 to maintain your boiler .

the price goes down after the 1st year (premium in 1st year is to pay for pre-existing fault) to around £170 which is cheaper than your beloved BG namsag.
