Hi,

This weekend I am sanding our pine floorboards downstairs, living room, dining room and hall in our small, old terrace. Cannot decide on what to apply after.
Want a natural look - not too dark, not orange. Can't decide between Osmo polyx which seems to get a lot of good press, or a water based varnish by ronseal or someone...

If we do go ahead with osmo - is it better getting a colour one - mid oak or something - or will clear be fine (i.e. not turn orange!)....

or am I better off with a water based poly one on pine, and if so which??!

Any thoughts olease cause I really can't decide!

We would recommend to use a HardWaxOil with a little colour, like the blanchon Golden Oak. The HWO lets the wood breath and at the same time repels dirt and drips. The colour is a warm Oak colour and prevents the pine turning orange.

Other benefits of an oiled floor: every bit of TLC you bestow on it will make it more beautiful and damages can be locally repaired (sanded and re-oiled) without causing a patchy effect with the surrounding areas as you can have with lacquer finishes.

Thanks very much for the recommendation. Might go with osmo's hardwax oil then and get a tin of the tint stuff they offer - go for one of their oak options.
Anyone any experience of using their colour polyx on pine??

Did you find a solution to sealing the surface without the oranging effect which most varnishes and oils seem to have. Thanks.
