I have a gravity fed hot water system which consists of huge loft mounted cold water tank, an eleven year old storage cylinder and associated pipes. The problem i am experiencing is due to overfilling of the cold header. I changed the ball valve as i thought this was the culprit, which it seems it is'nt. A slow trickle of water escapes from the vent pipe from the cylinder into the header. this seems to occur when the system is hot or cold. I tried a few adjustments and one noticeable change occured when i closed the gate valve which stops the water to the cylinder from the header. This causes the water to escape. When i open the gate valve it stops for a while????
