I am new to gardening so....

I ordered some Verbascum Helen Johnson which are described as mature plants in 9cm pots.

I have also seen 3lt pots for the same price (£7.90)

I was given to understand that the 9cm plants would flower this year and should be planted out straight away.

Considering the temperature and snow this does not seem advisable so what should I do ? Plant them out or in pots till it is warmer and what compost and what are the chances of them flowering this summer ?

Would I be safer buying a couple of the 3lt and would they flower this year ?

Then plant out the 9cm ones and expect them to flower next year ?
