Voltswagon Beetle front head lamp failure.

Hi,the front main head lamps on the Mrs 2005 Beetle soft top do not light.
The side lights,the rear lights and the high beam all work.
Any idea's to what and where the fault is would be much appreciated.

Bet it's the bulbs, sometimes when one bulb blows the other one does aswel. i would check these first.

If it isn't the bulbs, it will likely be the high / low beam changeover relay....don't know where it is though - sorry!
Do the dip / main headlamps have individual fuses?
The column stalk is next possible culprit.

The bulb only has one filament and it works on full beam so i don't think it is the bulbs.
I was thinking it could be a relay or some type of resistor of sorts.i will check the fuses and try and locate the relay.

Sounds odd that it only has one filament as the direction of the light needs to differ between high and low beam, how many wires appear from the back of the lamp?
The high beam may be a completely separate lamp.
