yes you can put a plug on it and plug it in if it is easier, so long as the flex (to the plug) is of the right size, the plug fuse is the right size, the cable is correctly secured

He hasn't said what fan......could be for kitchen, utility.....or could be a 10hp one for blowing air into grain silo's
