washing machine programme stuck

hi,
i have a hotpoint aquarius wf 541, put it on today went out, returned home kitchen full of steam, the powder drawer had blown off and the machine full of boiling water and stuck on programme 6, any ideas as to whats wrong, its about 2 years old, i think it could be a stuck thermostat or similar but dont know how to check, very mechanically minded so with a bit of assistance hope i can rectify,

Themistor on the heater has gone.

any ideas where i can get a replacment, also is it easy enough to replace,

Remove rear White cover it's down the bottom of the drum slotted in the Heater. Remove 8 mm nut on the heater and slide stat out. It's got 2 thin blue wires on it. Part no is cooo83915 cost a tenner.
