I went to put my washing machine on and it has tripped the main fuse box but not the fuse on the plug. It trips the fuse when I shut the door, all lights on and working before I shut the door. I have tried another socket but it still does it.

Any ideas?

Just disconnected the earth from the motor and it works. So does this mean there is a fault with the earth wiring or something else?

Thanks in advance

Fault in the door interlock circuit causing low resistance to earth.

I assume by 'main fuse' you actually mean the RCD main switch?

Yes. Unplug the motor see if it trips. Then the heater. Then the mains surpressor.

Hi yes I did mean the RCD sorry. Is this something I can fix or do I need to order a new door lock?

Thanks again

Do what I said first. Connect earth and disconnect the three one at a time , when it dont trip that's the fault.
