We're having problems with gurgling drains in the bathroom in the house we've just moved into. When I look down the plug hole in the sink I can see the water bubbling round the trap until pretty much all the water is gone. This happens when nothing else is being used so I guess it's not being siphoned by a vaccuum from other wastes, it happens even if the tap is run very slowly so that water isn't "rushing" round the trap and i can't detect any hint of a leak. When the bath water is released we get period "gasps" as I guess trapped air finds its way out. Fortunately we aren't getting bad smells in the house so it's more of an annoyance than a major problem but I can't work out why it's happening.

Any advice you might have would be gratefully recieved.

it ussually has something to do with the position of your soil stack and lengh of run to it.

there is a trap you can buy that has a one way vent on it this may cure your problem.
