That is a drain cock for draining the system. Effectively a tap without a handle. It has a washer and like tap washers it may leak.
At the bottom there is square shaft which may need tightening ( like a leaky tap may to be turned OFF a bit more firmly )

Do it very gently so as not to damage the washer.

Thermal cycling and the resultant expansion and contraction of the cavity in which the washer is located. Extremely small amount but over the years the washer shrinks.
If you decide on DIY then first make sure you have the correct size of new washer
Firmly connect a hose pipe onto the nozzle, run the hose down hill to a drain. Open the tap and the water will drain away.
Change washer and refill the system
