We've recently moved house and I've just plumbed our old washing machine in and when we used it water poured out of the front soap powder drawer and all over the floor.

We turned it off quickly, it never did this in our old house and I've checked the trap is clear.

Any help would be great.

take the drawer out and look for a blockage
the drawer may have a clip underneath or possibly pull fully out and lift the front up but carfully in case thats wrong

When you say "poured out of the front soap powder drawer" did this happen as soon as you switched on or had the machine completely filled up with water first? (ie overflowed through soap dispenser)

Does it drain into a trap like this?

(washing machine drain hose connected to sidearm)

If so, check the sidearm actually allows flow. Some years ago we had our washing machine plumbed in, and the goofball who did it (not a professional plumber) forgot to cut the end off the sidearm!

(Of course, you might already have checked it.)
