I am after recommendations for a water softener.

I live in a annexe which I converted from two garages and a long toolroom into 5 room single storey property: lounge, kitchen, bathroom and two beds.

Oil fired Worcester Bosch combi 12/14.

It is a high limestone area or aggressive limestone scale.

The combi care cartridge on the feed to the boiler lasts about 6 months and at £30 a pop to replace I am looking at alternatives such as a water softener.

The softener will hopefully obviate the need for the combicare cartridge and hopefully make the other valves (shower and taps) last longer as well.

The best is Kinetico. Others are much as each other. You can't really go wrong because unlike other water treatment gimmicks, all WS main brands do what they say and soften the water. Make sure you leave hard water tap to drink from and to fill the CH system (rads) with.

totaly agree with Tibbot. I have used kinetico for over 11 years and no problems at all. This is my opinion but am sure there are much more qualified people on the forum.
