wax or oil for timber

i have recently installed a new handrail and bannister in my home but confused how to finish it off. I dont want to apply varnish or a stain to it as i want to keep the wood as natural as possible, the material in question is HEMLOCK . Can anyone sugest what product would be best ie. wax , tung oil etc
