Hi,
I have a terraced 1910 build house with a large kitchen but the DPC must have failed as the concrete floor is damp. Its a rental property and I simply don't have the money to dig out and start again, thousands in losses last few years. The DPC on the surrounding walls is also a bit poor in places but not a big issue.
I have read some people literally just put a waterproof layer and re-floor over the top with chipboard and I guess as a medium term solution this would be fine. The floors been there for 100 years and has been wet for 10 or more its gonna suddenly degrade and break up.
I assume if used some kind of sealant on it the water will be forced more towards the walls and this could lead to increased problems with rising damp.
Any cost effective suggestion or major do's or don'ts appreciated
