wet plugs

friend has nissan aimera 1.4 ten years old,he replaced battary £80. :cry:
alternater checked ok.still difficult to start.
removed plugs,found to be wet,not from petrol, but moisture :confused:
any ideas please thanks :)

do they still do the wet start stuff from halfords?
or iirc you could use wd40 but again iirc it can flash up quite a bit.
but only do this once you have found more research on this.i remember a m8 doing it(he was a mechanic)as im not do this at your risk.

yes, he uses car every day to work.
mechanic checked alternater,due to flat batt. he did say started ok on way to work , but trouble starting after work.each day ,strange.

If your mate is sure that the plugs are wet with moisture - and its not unburnt fuel - he needs to look at the inlet manifold gaskets.....the manifold is heated by coolant and its about the only way that moisture can get in. Apart from a blown head gasket, of course! Cheers John :)
 
Just a way to help see if its a manifold problem.....look at the 4 inlet ports in the cylinder head when the manifold is off....usually they are uniformly black. If water gets in, they often look spotlessly clean! Best of luck mate John :)
