I am in the process of renovating, re-rendering the front and rear elevation of a mid terrace house I want something maintenance free. I am hesitating between Wethertex, K-rend and ***************. I would like to know if any readers has had any good of bad experience with any of them and any comment would be welcome. (Quality of product, work and price). Thanks

You are much better off using standard masonry paint every 15 years. Cheap as chips and just as good.

sorry, although i am somewhat biased, (to say the least!) i would disagree with you on that.

Call a decorator to do a masonry paint job and that is all you would get. PAINT.

Call one of the companies you mention (which includes the company i work for) and you will get a lot more, in terms of quality, and service. (and no this isnt an advert).

A wall coating service encompasses repairs and alterations to the home, whether you choose my co. or wethertex, 2 totally different systems, but each having their own merits and both good systems.

You get what you pay for these days!

cheap as chips?

yeah right. So if your home is, lets say at random, worth £150,000, you will only fork out 100 quid or so on some paint?

if you had a rolls royce and it needed a respray, would you still choose the cheapest method or go to the dealer to have it done properly?

i'm trying very hard to offer impartial advice, (which is tricky for me), but whatever you choose my friend, please dont go for the bargain basement cheapest option as it will come back to haunt you!!!

good luck anyway and pls contact me if you need any advice

There are other options and the phrase never paint again is not exactly true. Most carbon based solvent or water based coatings are semi porous some say they are but are not. I have rarely seen any 'paint' that doesn't age, deteriorate or peel otherwise they would paint the forth road bridge with it.
Calling a high earner commission only sales-led company will only get you a very high price and a decorator with an airless sprayer or even worse a non-trade square meter rate 'coater' with little knowledge of building or technical coating who wants a fast turn-around.

K rend is lime based, and does not hold 'paint', though they can supply pre-coloured versions.
Limestone based coatings can be self coloured like Decopierre, though there product is more expensive than paint I think it is breathable and self healing (what ever that means).

A good indication is look at the other houses in your area, knock and ask the owners what they used and remember even the specialists use a product that is off someone's 'shelf' and after 25 years in industrial coatings I have not seen anything that 'new' and/or justify's the kind of prices some companies charge.

What you going to do in 7 to 10 years time, when the k rend, (etc), has weathered ?............Yep, end up painting it. Sand and cement all the way, then paint, using mineral silicate paint 1.180. Dulux do more colors as well, and last just as long, and cheaper.

nope sorry, the OFFICIAL never paint again (i.e. us or at least, "me" in this case) clearly state that "never" does not mean never ever. How on earth could anybody claim that something lasts for ever??????!!!!!!!!

we do NOT claim our products last for ever.

"Never paint again", as long as it is explained properly to any potential client, sounds a damn site better than "May not have to paint for up to 25 years"......

besides, the URL would be far too long...........
