I want to replace the single glazing in a house with seal units that will fit in the same frame. Can I do this without being a Fensa member? Can I just do it then get a BCO to sign it off? Or can I just do it as I'm not actually changing the window?
Thanks for any info.

Doubtful your local BCO will be be prepared to certify anything, to get regs approval he'll expect a bit of paper from the manufacturer of the window with a U Value written on it and you won't have that. For that reason I would say that this work was exempt from notification.

I reckon I could get the spec from the glass people as its a small company. Is that all fensa are looking for? Reading their website it just seems like beaurocracy for the sake of it.

you don't need fensa or building reg's for replacement glass or sealed units as the window has already been installed just make sure of any that need to be toughened glass in critical areas
