what is a bbu

I am banging my head all night and yet i dont know what a bbu LOOKS LIKE. Can anyone help me by explaining or to show me a pic of a bbu.
I do know what a fire place is. I do know what a fire front is but what is a bbu. Is it a cylinder? How does it look like? When I see inside my fireplace it is placed at the back. But are there only pipes or what?
I would be grateful for a detailed explanation.

Its a back boiler unit which is just a boiler with a fire attatched on the front:
