Hi,

I have this white textured material above the front door which is flaking away having been on for donkeys years. Does anybody have any advice on how to repair it please, or suggestions for an alternative finish if I were to strip it all off?

jamie473, good evening.

That finish could be?? a heavily textured external [masonry type] paint? Or a paint that has had a load of grit / course sand added?

As for a "fix" the textured paint needs to be removed and depending on what is under it a suitable primer / U/coat and top coat

As an aside, the timber could also do with some TLC at the same time??

Ken.

It looks like the textured paint has been put on plywood which is now delaminated and splitting. To prevent it happening again I would cut two triangles of cement board to screw to the ply and paint that...after removing the old paint
