1947 you say ? In that case it must be an early prototype of the popular morning day starter that is better known as Weetabix.

 

[Symptoms]

mart - looks like a product called strawboard (made from bonded chopped straw) and used as a lightweight building board (often in ceilings or as infill slabs in steel-framed roofing then covered with bitumen felt). More often used in commercial situations and it was available in biggish sheets.

Can you see it anywhere else other than little bits fallen between the rafters?
