Need to make some cabinets from MDF...usually get my MDF from B&Q but the edges seem a little soft. (I know MDF IS soft, but soft for MDF).

Is there a general opinion than Wicks MDF is better quality than B&Q. Both seem to have deals for 5 sheets for about 15/16quid each...

happy to look for alternatives to these two, but need 4/5 sheets for saturday, and B&Q cutting service goes a long way in drawing me there!!

Cheers,

Virgil

why not just lip the edges with some nice bits of prepared timber?

I bought some MDF offcuts from B&Q, 50p each, to make a cover for some boiler pipes. I cut the MDF with a cheap Bosch jig saw, clamping some wood to the surface to guide the saw, and got absolutely perfect cuts. I was astonished. I guess this was the standard 15mm stuff.
