I have recently purchased at towel rail it is the same size as the radiator I have removed The pipes protrude up from the floor I have bought
two valves but the new connection from the towel rail to the old rad pipe is female as is the pipe connection on the floor. Is there a valve which i can buy to correct this problem or will I have to get connectors. I would like the job to be as unsightly as possible - I cannot hide the pipework as the tiling is already complete.

That is almost guaranteed with the majority of London plumbers.

Towel rails don`t come with connections you have to fit the valves yourself, I suspect that your old radiator valves connected to your existing pipes will have to be replaced to match those of the towel rail.
Did you fit the connections to the towel rail yourself?

youre right the towel rail did not have connectors but when i spoke to supplier he gave me a set but they fit the rail but the connection to the old rad pipe is the wrong way round - we have bought compression valves which fit but are they safe - the rad in the bathroom was the one with the safety non operating valve

Buy 2 new rad valves, remove the existing ones on your pipes & fit these, they will match the towel rail. Buy 2 Lockshield valves or a lockshield & a thermostatic valve if you want to turn the temperature down.
