Whirlpool AWM 6120/3 Will not start wash

Hi
On the above washing machine after selecting the programme and pressing start, the machine starts for about 1 minute and then stops, with the lights flashing saying that the door is open. The machine has been running fine and the water supply is connected fine. I can drain the machine and open the door. Just will not wash.

Any ideas helpful

Any pattern on the start button led; i.e. "x" flashes - pause - "x" flashes?
It might pay to take a look at the motor brushes for excessive wear.
Post the machine service number if you don't find a problem with the brushes. Should be something close to this: 857061215530
