Whirlpool Dishwashe ADP501/5 Green light flashing 4 times...

My dishwasher has stopped working and reading other similar threads i have counted the flashes and there are 4 then a pause.
I have taken the silver cover inside the bottom of the machine and it is filled with water.
When i last used it it made a strange noise, what i can only describe as ice being crushed ??

Any help on this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

From your description I'd guess that something has jammed the drain pump. You'll have to take the pump out to check.

many thanks for the reply, now just to prove that i know absolutely nothing about these things, can you tell me where this pump is and how i get it off, thanks again

finally got the pump removed and its totally clear ??

any ideas on what to try next ??
