Racism doesn't have to be 'active' or 'positive'. Racism is racial prejudice, even if it is only in your mind.
That's the word I was looking for: prejudice.

The comments only serve to show me that we all have varying degrees of what we perceive to be what is a racist remark.
I have been told that it is racist to say that black people are not as good swimmers as white people.
However if I say that black people are better sprint runners or boxers than white people , then that is not racist.
Will somebody please give me a simple explanation of the difference between a racist remark and a simple statement of fact.?
Life was all so simple when I was young and when the only difference in culture was between the working class and the rich bosses and where everyone knew their place.
