My incompetent builder tried to prop this wall whilst putting a steel beam underneath it. That didn't achieve much, other than smash the lath and plaster at the bottom section of the wall. I tidied up the mess and would like to patch the gap. The question is how to do it. My initial idea is to screw a section of a new plasterboard (two 12.5 boards to make it flush with the old plaster) into the gap, tape the join and skim the entire partition wall. Is this a good way of doing this? If not, what's a better way if I don't want to remove the old plaster completely?
