Why did a small garden all fall down.

A customer has a front garden wall separating them from their neighbours, perpendicular to their house.

It has collapsed down to about only 3 courses.

Nothing crashed into it, it just fell apart. It had a pillar in the middle to stabilise it, and the neighbour has the same wall on the otherside which looks fine.

What could cause this?

As above - I know of a 100+yard long. 18 inch thick. 8foot high wall along one side of an old Walled Garden - went over one night Luckily no footpath near it. Think of the ££££salvage from those Georgian bricks
