Why does general discussion degenerate

I went to read a post that wasn't political for a change and the second post in through it right in to politics.

Can't we be adults and talk about something else.

I understand that Brexit is an important topic but I have my views but don't feel the need to ram them down your throats.

Or twist every thing in to a discussion about it.

Please you know who you are.
