Why is my Ariston boiler being weird?

Hi all.

My house and hot water is heated by an Ariston Microgenus boiler.

It's working fine, except, every once in a while, it fires up and the hot water light (as opposed to the central heating light) comes on.

The LCD display goes from showing "On" to showing a number reflecting water pressure. The system runs for less than ten seconds, then clicks off again.

HOWEVER - none of the hot water outlets in the house is open. None of them is dripping.

Is this behaviour indicative of a weep/slow leak at a pipe somewhere? Or could it be an ageing boiler slowly sinking into dementia?

All ideas and experience welcome. Cheers!

Assuming this is a Microgenus II or HE model.

Perhaps you have the boiler set to confort (or pre-heat mode) and the boiler is just keeping itself warm. Top left selector...E or C. The display will show the temperature not the pressure. I can't remember if the hot water LED comes on with confort mode.

Ah thanks for that, hadn't realised the LCD was temperature not pressure. Makes sense :)

I'll have a look at the Eco selector. I don't recall messing with it but I replaced a radiator a few months ago so it's possible I flicked it round at some point.

Good ideas, I'll have a look!
