I'm not against the idea, I I just wondered if there is a specific reason why the furniture is not varnished over once stained. Something like a UK resistant tough marine varnish ?
The feet must be end grain and more absorbent and so I would think they would rot eventually and from having seen my parent's I no that over a few years the staining discolours and the wood dries out and splits.
