Just as you can't be precise about where you live; a Heating engineer cannot tell how long his next job will take.
What I am trying to get through to you is that every job can be as long as a piece of string and with so many systems going wrong at this time of year all jobs have to be prioritised as best they can.
I do agree with you on one point though and that is a phone call would have been nice to let you know he couldn't make it. But in mitigation his phone has probably been going daft all day just like mine has. It is better to leave someone in the cold than to get distracted and make a mistake with the job you are doing which could blow someone up and leave them in pieces.
Totally agree mate. All my work is for accommodation agencies, they all want priority treatment, not possible when there's only one of me.
Friday was a nightmare! Had a mornings work booked, meant to pick my son up in the afternoon, he lives 80 miles away. Had 2 agencies call, 1 to change a cylinder that day. Said I'd take a look around midday, 12:30 the agency phones saying "had tenant on thephone asking where you are?", nearly told them to poke it!
Other agency had a tenant with water "pouring" from under the sink, race there to find the trap was dripping, once every 30 seconds or so, was not a happy bunny.
Ended up being 2 half hours late picking my son up
Now off work today because the stress of last week has flarred up my colitis, more money lost
Anyway, this time of year I prioritize. You can't do everything and be everywhare (especially when I cover the whole of Cornwall).
