Hi all,
I have a bit of a situation, I have an ex council flat, (50+ years old) with all cables contained within surface mounted trunking as there is someone upstairs so cavity is hard to access. I am looking to refresh the place with new sockets / switches.
Thing is, down one wall there is a 10mm cooker wire (connected to a cooker switch with a neon and a socket) next to this is a fused spur (FCU), with a 13A fuse in it. This FCU goes off to power washing macihne / extractor fan etc

In order for me to work safely and replace the FCU plate I disconnect the cooker circuit by switching off the MCB with the word 'cooker' next to it. I also swich off the circuit with the word 'sockets' next to it !

I know the sockets and cooker circuits are dead with both these MCB's off.

When I go to move the wires around in the trunking to give me better access to the 2.5mm wires going to the FCU, the RCD in the fuse board trips . . . . . . Sometimes, if I just switch the two circuits off and do nothing, the RCD still trips ! How can this be ?

Looking at the fuse board, and reading the forums on thie website, I know that all circuits except lights are on the RCD side of the fuse board.

Any advice / input would be appreciated
