Two ways really, 1st is put cill onto brickwork and then window on top, then screw window down onto cill but making sure you dont put the screws in the bead track but further in in the area where the glass packers go. 2nd way is to screw the cill to the underneath of the window and then lift both in together, doing it like this i would screw upwards through the cill and into the window, one screw at each end so they go into the verticals, this way u you can use long screws with a coarse thread without them fouling the glass

crank39 thanks,
could you also tell me, i'll be placing cill onto newly laid blocks, what do i use to fill any gaps underneath cill once window is level, mortar, filler?

If you've got enough room in the height i would lay the cill on a bed of mortar, if not then lay it dry and run a bead of silicone underneath, just like you would when sealing the rest of the window.
