I have a question on RAM.
Someone I know wants to run Windows 7 on his Desktop with a min. requirement of 1 gig. of RAM and is too mean to to fit any more memory.

What performance would he get from running applications without spare ram and only on virtual..?

I wouldn't even want to run xp with less than 1gb!!!, let alone w7

1gb is the min spec for the 32bit version, you can run it on less, and its "fine"
this person will pay upwards of £45 for wndows 7, but too stingy to spent the same on another stick of RAM?

I have 7 32 running quite happily on a pentium 4 laptop, with only 512 of ram, just turn off the twiddly bits.

depends also on what the person does with their puter, if its only basic office/net type stuff, it will be OK, if they want to use fireworks/photoshop etc, it wont.

You are way more patient than me ;) 2gb on my last xp machine and I still got annoyed with seeing egg timers.

Currently have a Vaio with i7 and 6gb and am happy with w7
