winzip or similar

I keep getting files that need winzip to unzip them. However I dont really want to buy winzip for $30.
Can anyone recommend a free download (legal) for winzip or similar utility?

You can download winzip for free, you select for evaluation. I have been using it for over 10yrs.

Winzip isnt free, I think thats the point of the original post.....

exactly, so it isnt free lol
Earlier versions you just clicked ok/use eval and that was that, newer versions after several uses hold the splash screen for some time whilst it counts how many times you have used it. Still works but for the sake of a few quid is it really worth the hassle? Everyone to their own I suppose.

I find WinRAR to be much better and if you don't buy it, it will still work with only a brief nag message at program launch
