Yes, I realise that, and am grateful. In fact, as I'm sure you know, it would probably take a fair bit more than 3 hours in most cases. If the immersion delivered 3kW to the water, and there were zero heat losses, to raise 170 litres of water from, say, 15 to 65 degrees C would theoretically take about 198 minutes. Given that there will inevitably be at least some heat losses, it's likely to be appreciably longer than that.
