Wiring an outside light

I want to replace my existing bulk head light with a new PIR Spotlight (already bought). The existing light was connected using the standard 2 core live and neutral, however the new light also has a connector for earth. Will this be ok to wire the new light with just live and neutral given that is all the existing wire has?
