Hi just purchased a combined RCD/MCB enclosure with two MCB's to wire in a shower. The existing consumer unit is a fusebox. Can i wire it from the spare fuse in the fusebox to the RCD then from one of the MCB's to the shower. The RCD is rated at 63A/30ma and the MCB rated at 50A. If i can do this what size of fuse do i need at main fusebox. 45A or 50A? Any help greatly appreciated. The power rating of the shower is 10.8kw

very unlikely your fusebox was designed with such loads in mind, chances are it won't take a fuse over 30A

What you have bought is a shower CU, designed to be installed alongside an existing CU, there is no logic in trying to find a way to run it as a submain when its only a single way board itself...

You should henley it into the tails before the CU, this requires you to have the REC pull their fuse for the duration of the work, and you to notify building control prior to doing the work as its notifiable
